Sometimes in our quest to empower children’s leadership, things can backfire or go wrong. They plan events and no one shows up. They have a fundraiser and don’t meet their goal. There may be cases where the community, parents and other adults fail to respond in the way the children expected, and they end up hurt, disappointed, or disillusioned.
Unfortunately, this is a part of life that everyone learns one way or another. Sometimes, even if everyone did what they were supposed to do, an idea or action falls flat and just doesn’t work.

I heard a joke once on the Seinfeld sitcom, that people fear public speaking more than death, so that meant someone speaking at a friend's funeral would rather be in the coffin than be speaking.
